PTSD
by Dr. Rossanna Massey
The terrible thing about PTSD is that not only does a person physically and or emotionally go through a traumatic event that might have taken only minutes to happen initially, as is sometimes the case in war situations, the mental reverberations can last a lifetime. The trickle down effect is how his or her family can, and usually does, suffer along with them afterward.
Emotional pain can manifest in many different physical presentations. Everyone experiences and expresses them differently, depending on the individual’s emotional sensitivity or belief systems. Anger, fear, guilt and depression have a way of settling into the body and hiding as suppressed memories. It is our own wonderful self-preservation mechanism that allows us to somehow continue on with our life, wounded, but functioning, as it were.
Traditional psychotherapy, and the more contemporary therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, can take months or years, and cost tens of thousands of dollars, to “rearrange” the emotional furniture making those disturbing memories more tolerable. The good news is that Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) clears out the room completely, and sometimes takes only minutes to actually collapse and completely desensitize the core issue.
This cutting edge meridian therapy technique is truly the most profound source of healing on a cellular level for the 21st century. Many of our Vietnam vets, who have stranded their identity in their suffering for years, are sometimes unwilling to give up their bad memories for fear of dishonoring their fallen companions. There is hope for them, however, with these new approaches, as well as the men and women currently in the armed services, to be rid of their emotional pain as soon as possible, and get on with the business of living their life.
